Replay, 2012

Replay is a live performance that took place at the Bat-Yam Museum in October 2012 as part of the MFA Exhibition of the Midrasha Art School.

The action consisted of a series of re-enactments of historical football moment, while exploring the wider aspects of this football phenomena.

The re-enactments were performed by professional football players (Macabi Irony Bat-Yam), a film crew, a well known football broadcaster, and tree commentators each covering his or her area of expertise: Modi Baron- football commentator, Shir Haham- dance critic and journalist and Nimrod Matan- philosopher.

The featured football moments were fragments from historical games that had a strong impact beyond the field upon other areas, such as sociological, historical, political and formal aspects.

The re-enactment took place on a public lawn outside the Bat-Yam Museum that was transformed into a football field. The actions were documented by five cameras that broadcasted live to a studio located inside the museum. The three commentators gave new interpretations to the live re-enactments on the field.

The performance was open to the general public and the audience was a mixture of art fans and locals who stumbled upon the event. They watched the live performance and at the same time could enter the “studio” and watch the moves on the screens in the museum.
